AI credits
AI credits are the alternative to bringing your own provider API key. We hold the provider relationship, and your AI usage is billed by us on the same subscription as your hosting plan.
The AI credits card appears on your dashboard only if you bought credits.
Allowance and reserve
Your balance has two parts:
| Where it comes from | What happens to what's left | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly allowance | Renews with your subscription every cycle | Resets at the start of the next cycle |
| Reserve | One-time top-ups you buy when you need them | Never expires |
Your bot spends the monthly allowance first and only draws on the reserve once the month's pool is gone. The card shows both figures and their total, along with the date your next cycle starts. Select Refresh to re-read the balance.
When credits run out
Your bot pauses when the total hits zero, and the card shows Depleted. It starts answering again as soon as you top up the reserve or the next monthly allowance lands.
Below $5 remaining, the card warns you that credits are running low so you can top up before anything stops.
Changing your monthly allowance
- Enter a new amount under Monthly allowance, either a preset or your own figure.
- Select Save allowance.
Any whole amount between $5 and $500 works.
Topping up your reserve
- Enter an amount under Top up reserve, between $5 and $500.
- Select Charge saved card.
We charge the card already on your subscription, so there is no second checkout. The balance updates within a few seconds. If it is still catching up, refresh the page in a minute, and contact us if it never arrives.
If your bank asks for authentication, we hand you a payment page to finish on. Your reserve is credited once that payment goes through.
Billing problems
While the subscription behind your credits needs attention, the card shows an Action needed badge and hides your balances, the allowance selector, and the top-up controls. Only the fix is offered:
- Payment failed: the month's allowance is not added. Select Update payment method to open the billing portal, and the allowance follows the next successful charge. This is the quickest route to the portal when a payment has failed, and it is available even when View invoices is not.
- Subscription canceled: no further monthly allowances are added. Your reserve lasts only as long as the server. When the cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period, we destroy the server and any remaining reserve goes with it. Reserve credit is not refundable, so spend it or contact us before the end date.
The card has two more states:
- AI credits inactive: we found no active subscription for this server. Select Manage billing to check it.
- Couldn't load AI credits: we could not read your balance. Select Retry. Your credits and your bot keep working.
Invoices for both hosting and credits live in the billing portal. See Account settings.
