Troubleshooting
Start from the symptom.
Your bot ignores one person
They have not been paired yet. Your bot stays silent to anyone whose pairing code you have not approved, which is the most common reason a working bot looks broken. See Approving pairing requests.
Your bot ignores everyone
Work down the dashboard in this order:
- Channels: does the channel read Configured? Configuring means the change is still landing, and a Required badge means no channel is connected at all. See Channels.
- AI model: is a provider and model set? A Required badge here means your bot has nothing to answer with. See AI model.
- AI credits, if you bought credits: Depleted means your bot is paused until you top up or the next allowance lands. If the card reads Action needed instead, fix your subscription first. The top-up controls stay hidden until you do. See AI credits.
- Server status: a Degraded or Unhealthy badge points at the server rather than your configuration.
- Still nothing: select Restart OpenClaw in Quick actions, and Restart server if that does not help. See Updates.
WhatsApp stopped replying
WhatsApp sessions expire, and the row drops to Not linked. Select Pair on the WhatsApp row, then Generate QR code, and scan it again. See Channels.
Your dashboard shows an error instead of the cards
- Server error: provisioning failed. Select Retry.
- Couldn't load server status: we could not read your server's status. Select Retry.
- You land on the setup wizard instead of the dashboard: your server has not been created yet. See Setting up your server.
It worked yesterday
Open the Activity log and look for a change or error around the time it stopped. On Elite you can restore a backup from before the change; on Pro, the most recent daily backup. On Core the Activity log is the whole trail.
What we cannot help with
Anything inside the bot, such as how it answers, which skills it runs, or how a conversation flow behaves, belongs to OpenClaw. See the OpenClaw documentation.
